Middle Hill Road is a small road that winds among Nanshan hill, not being included in official road plan, but it is a shortcut between two main roads and traffic grows naturally.
National Grid did not intentionally ignore it as it is small, short and not in local road planning. For safety at night, Middle Hill village chose solar road lights.
Now Middle Hill Road not only provides comfortable passage for pedestrians and non-motor vehicles at night, but also becomes a favorite section of many runners.
"I think it is very cool, these lights can cover the area that the Grid have not covered," says Mr. Zhou, a veteran amateur cross-country marathoner. "Sometimes running on a road without transmission lines let me feel closer to wild."
